Walkathon is an annual feature organised by Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled on a specific theme to commemorate the World Disability Day. It is a public event organised to mainly involve people across the country and spread awareness on a common cause. Walkathon is perceived as an event made to create awareness and more importantly call for concerted action.
The 13th walkathon is initiated to bring about a green change in people and their practices. With the theme, ’Walk for the Green Change’ the 13th walkathon will be organised on 9th December 2017 at Bengaluru.
Witnessing the surge in population every passing year, one of our concerns is the amount of green house gases that we collectively emit through vehicular and industrial pollution, building of concrete structures and falling of essential trees causing Ozone depletion and warmer climates around the globe. The changing climate patterns is affecting our bio diversity and natural ecosystem. The air we breathe, the wa-ter we drink, the ground we walk on, the nature that we so endearingly watch all are being lost, least realizing that our economy depends on this.
Our growth, our progress is related to a more Green India!!
Walking for climate change, walking for clean renewable energy, walking another mile to erase our carbon footprint, marching to save this earth and the natural habitat!
Walk along to make a difference! Walk with us and ask your employees, co-workers, family, friends and neighbours to walk for the cause. Your participation will strengthen our efforts in bringing in a green change in the environment.
Lend a helping hand! Walk along with the disabled! Involve in volunteering opportunities such as mock walk, assistance at registration, check points, food counters Promote in your circle and be the local brand ambassador!

“Wherever you turn, you can find someone who needs you. Even if it is a little thing, do something for which there is no pay but the privilege of doing it. Remember, you don’t live in the world all of your own.”
